Bill J Berry

Architect, LEED AP

Bill J Berry is the founder of Berry Architectural Consultants and has been in the Architecture industry for 25 years.

Bill's passion for design began as a child with his love for drawing, imagining, and making. Continuous hours of drawing or building models steered him into the world of Architecture.

His enthusiasm for design increased in his first job at an Architectural firm in Tallahassee. As a high school senior, Bill was thrilled with the experience of being a part of the creative environment. He continued to develop within the field before departing for a two-year mission to Montana. Once Bill returned to Florida, he directed his enthusiasm to efforts in school. He had the great opportunity to develop his design aptitude and technical understanding of construction at the University of South Florida and while working in the Tampa area. His creative efforts were noticed by others as he won two design competitions. Upon completing a Master of Architecture, Bill returned to North Florida. As a young designer in Pensacola, Bill led several projects; from an Historic Restoration (unbuilt), to a multi-million dollar beach house, to a university child care center. His repertoire of design spanned several styles and programs. Bill continued to develop his career by becoming a licensed Architect in the state of Florida and achieving LEED AP.

Between work, licensing exams, and family, Bill continued to design and sketch conceptual projects. Discovering a niche in the University system after working closely with the University of West Florida on multiple projects, Bill took a new direction in his career. Moving to Crofton to work at the University of Maryland provided many opportunities and insights into design, construction, and maintaining the built environment. During the twelve years working at the University Bill gained experience navigating large institutional projects and coordinating between multiple constituents. The lessons learned on campus transferred well into a new job at the Department of State. While in this role Bill was able to provide safe, secure, functional, and resilient buildings all over the world.

The experiences of working on embassies, consulates, and ambassador residents has prepared Bill to provide homes with the security and resiliency that owners are looking for.
