UWF had outgrown their existing on campus child care facility. A new location was determined that brought the facility near the center of campus for better access. To help conserve space an existing parking lot was chosen as the new site. The building footprint is split into two wings in a 'V' shape to accommodate the moderate slope. Each classroom is designed with direct access to the outdoors and plenty of sunlight Through material choice, the use of a geothermal HVAC system and other design initiatives, the Child Care Center was one of the first LEED Certified buildings on campus.
